i hate sad endings.

that is precisely why i never finished watching maverick, n tonight, for the first time, baru nak tgk gladiator. but as i watched commodus smothering his father the caesar in his embrace, i think i know, i'll never finish watching it, as with maverick.

nothing, i mean nothing, can make me watch movies with sad endings till the end. especially if the storyline is all sad and soppy. call me a dreamer if u will, but i believe in happy endings.

the same thing goes with public enemy. masa tengok gazette dia teringin sangat nak tgk johnny depp pakai trench coat. but the minute i know he dies in the movie, CANCEL.

sentap la cmni. baik tengok kabhi kushi kabhi gham.

harry potter the review

ok. so i went to watch it with my family. among four of us here's what everybody said:

marwan: boring ah, org siap tidoq2

shuhada: i told you all my friends said tak best but i juz want to see it.

hariz: tu lah, ingat ke ada byk lawan2, last2 mati cmtu je??!!

as for me, here's what i think:

no doubt when the reviewers said its a filler, it is a filler. but then again if ur a harry potter fan u'd know that the story is like that albeit all the embellishment in the movie. i do know that, n juz went with the flow. its juz that its disappointing to see the climax turned out to be soo anticlimactic. i imagined a lot of emphasis would be on the fighting scene in hogwarts, as with the book. ni habok pun tarak. si dumbledore tu mati kering je last2.

n another thing that made me pissed was all the story about horcruxes. abis tunggang terbalik. dumbledore is a wise man, he's SUPPOSED to know. ni like, baru la sibuk nak tau. kesian la. nampak cam x bijak. not the dumbledore i came to know from the book.

the saver, i say, would be ron. kalo tak... hmm.. habis la..

my point is, bila dia ckp girls tgk dia mcm nak makan, makes me rasa malu sekejap. malu as a perempuan. sekejap je tapi. mana pegi dah malu tu, sampai nak ogle guys mcm org tu food?

REVIEW: Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Mascara

so last night i had a go with Bobbi Brown's new Perfectly Defined Mascara. how did it fare to me?

so-so.

why?

well, its all good to apply, average-sized wand and the brush is like loose spiral which does the separating of lashes nicely. after applying one coat dah cantik dh. dont even need to use eyelash curler. but then again, my lashes are not exactly stick straight n pointing downwards, so no bonus there. it separated my lashes nicely though, n no clumping at all. good kan.

the main thing that bugged me was the fact that its waterproof. the SA said it can be washed off with warm water so oklah. balik rumah i normally clean my face with Estebel make up remover milk.

tak keluar ok mascara tuh.

only when i shower dgn warm water baru dia keluar. baru la paham, when she said wash it off with warm water, she meant ONLY warm water. pelik kan. i thought waterproof stuff kalo pakai makeup remover ok, ni makeup remover pun x leh pakai.

all in all, this is not gonna be what i'll pick up in the near future. leceh. pakai yg tak waterproof senang nak cuci, xcomot pun anyway.

but, by all means, try it while its free! :D

i've been put off to watch even the news when it comes to whatever happens to perak lah yang x habis2 cerita nya tu, smart tunnel yg org kata x smart lah.

tapi baca jugak kan. mcm love hate relationship pulak.

ye lah, it was built to turunkan air banjir tu when it comes, but when they close the tunnel to do so, mmg la massive jam nye kan.

nak buat camne. tarik kain kat sini, terselak pulak kat sana. kain x cukup la katakan.

It’s irrational for our politicians to be more preoccupied with fighting for power rather than fighting to stave off the financial tsunami and saving the jobs of Malaysians.

THE political tsunami that swept Malay­sia is already a year old although the manner in which our politicians are going for each other’s throats may suggest otherwise. But it is the financial tsunami that we should be worried about.

The reality is, no one can answer how long the global economic crisis will last and how bad it will be.

Several countries, like Latvia, have slipped into depression, resulting in social unrest.

Some European leaders have admitted they do not know what to do, saying there’s no precedent or textbook formulas for them to rely on to tackle the problems.

In the United Kingdom, only one bank has not been nationalised or rescued by the government. That’s how bad the situation is now.

The United States, the world’s largest market, has been badly hit, resulting in an unemployment rate of 8.1% – the highest in 25 years with 651,000 jobs lost last month alone.

In China, especially in Guangdong, thousands of factories, which relied mostly on the American market, have shut down, resulting in millions losing their jobs.

Last week, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said that this year would be the country’s most difficult year in this century.

He has declared an annual growth rate of 8%, with analysts saying that anything less than that could lead to political problems.

As for Singapore, the country’s benchmark stock index may fall about 20% more as the city-state sinks deeper into recession.

In Malaysia, the economic tsunami has yet to affect us but the sign of a deteriorating economy is showing.

We will not escape the impact of the global financial crisis although the authorities have refuted claims that the country is facing a recession.

Malaysia’s economy, which is heavily dependent on manufacturing, grew by a mere 0.1% in the last three months of 2008. This took annual growth to 4.6%, below official targets.

The second stimulus plan, in which the Government is spending another RM10bil, has been tabled in Parliament to revive the economy. This takes it to a total of RM17bil.

For Malaysians, especially in the private sector, it means re-looking their working patterns. By now, the orders are already out – no more new staff, no extension for staff reaching retirement age unless absolutely necessary, cut on business trips and, for sure, no bonuses.

Employers are scrutinising their operating expenditures, looking hard to find items that can save their companies money during this doom-laden period.

As with any economies, Malaysia is no different. The brunt of the layoffs would be on workers in factories, the retail sector, construction and hotels. That means it would hit the less educated ones the most.

At the Asia News Network meeting in Bangkok last week, many newspaper editors expressed their bewilderment at the excessive politicking in Malaysia.

Many of these media practitioners have friends and relatives in Malaysia and they voiced their concern at what is happening in our country, where our leaders seem more preoccupied with fighting for power instead of fighting to keep jobs for Malaysians.

In the assessment of their companies performances, whether in print or multi-media, the results will be the same – drops in revenue and circulation – as they grapple with the credit crunch.

The priorities of our politicians, however, are mixed up, and more Malaysians are becoming frustrated and even alienated at what they see as the failure of leaders, regardless of their political beliefs, to face the financial tsunami that is coming our way.

It is time that Malaysians insist that our politicians stop their antics, call a truce and get on with the real job of governing the states and the country.

cctv in hostels? sure ah?

I heard about something of this topic over the radio on my way to work this morning, n this is what I found online:

PUTRAJAYA: Closed-circuit television cameras can help reduce bullying incidents in schools.

Unfortunately, not all schools can afford to have the devices installed in their premises, Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom said yesterday.

"Of course, schools can have the CCTVs, but they have to buy it using the money collected through the parent-teacher association.

"At present, we don't have plans to purchase CCTVs as our emphasis is more on holistic approaches for the sound education of our children.

"But if schools can afford it, why not? I think CCTVs can help in so many ways. If they are installed in the school hostels, I am sure bullying incidents can be reduced."

He was commenting on an incident at a secondary school in Dalat, Mukah, a coastal town in central Sarawak, where a Form Five student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Oya had lodged a report on Feb 23 claiming that 10 Sixth Formers had assaulted him at the school's boarding house.

A recording of the three-minute incident had been uploaded on YouTube and was titled "SMK Oya-style wrestling".

Police have sent the investigation papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers.

Alimuddin will be going to the school this week after receiving a complete report from its headmaster and the state education director.

Aku dok 5 tahun kat hostel skolah xde pe pun… I mean, seriously. R u sure nak pasang cctv ni? Ok fine, pro…bably ada some pros behind this measure. Kut2 ada drug addict curi2 masuk hostel curi barang ke (xpyh ada kawad pencerobohan cam kat ssp dulu) kes2 org minyak ke, nak teropong ayam sapa sebenarnya yg bertelur kat atas katil syu/seri/ntah tak ingat sapa budak delima tu, something to that effect, I think can lah.

But as spycam for students? Come on, kalo mende cni pasang kat girls school, silap2 org yg monitor cctv tu buat duit jual video budak pompuan p toilet/mandi/tido. Silap2 ada kes Elizabeth Wong lagi.

Xtau la budak laki kan, if they bully sampai koma budak tu kes2 terpencil la, tp kalo girls’ school, setakat merangkak bawah katil yg berabuk xhengat sambil pakai tshirt putih dan menyanyi, tiup kipas siling sampai bergerak, tiru bunyi ayam alarm clock depan satu kelas senior, juz utk nak dapat senior’s signatures is sooo biasa. N 1^st year kalo mandi pukul 4.30pagi hari2 pun adalah sesuatu yg normal.

Anyway, kejap je mende2 tuh. 1^st year je. Silap2 2-3 bulan je nak kena kacau pun.

Tapi boys school I dunno to what extent is normal lah, tonyoh muka masuk toilet bowl tu agak kerap aku dgr. Yg tu mcm kesian.

Ikut pandai la labu, juz kalo they install those cctvs in girls’ schools, aku rasa aku hantar my girls (eceh berangan anak pompuan byk) to daily school je.

when we see the news nowadays its all about the Gaza land invasion. n the total toll of deaths have exceeded 900, and at least about 400 of them are civilians. tiap2 kali tgk tele kesian sgt dgn budak2 yg jadi mangsa. n what really pissed me off is that the israelis r hoo-haaa-ing about their casualties yg kalo skali kena serang dua tiga ekor je mati walhal when THEY attack hundreds palestinian civilians died.

n those EU ppl, yg nak jadi org tgh tu had the cheek to say hamas is to be blamed for commencing air strike. dey sarkozy come on laaa... sapa yg start dulu... ni la dia, dh dpt bini cantik yg suka bogel merata-rata abis semua benda xleh nak fikir rasional dah.

boycotting israeli products, however, for me, is a double-edge sword. i do feel the guilt for having milo (but i'm taking HL for a change), putting on EL and bobbi brown make ups almost every day, pakai j&j baby oil and powder, loreal creams, scott kitchen towels (ouuuhh goooodddnneeesss byk nya yg aku pakai) n sapa yg guna kotex for their monthly visits wont have the heart to change it to anything else. but if we think of the other side of the fence, byk locals yg kerja dgn these companies yg ada base di malaysia. if we do boycott these products, when the companies go down, then what happens to the employees? diorg pun cari makan.

but back to what i initially think, if org yg kerja situ keep it in their conscience all those images of little bodies wrapped bloody kain kafan, they would soon find jobs in other companies.

was heading to work today, mcm biasa lah, kawasan depan one utama tuh byk skt kete. tapi time cuti2 skolah nih xbyk pun kete so i wondered why lambat plk kete dpn2 kitorg nak bergerak. hmm... terkedek-kedek cm kura-kura... rupa-rupanya:

ada unser terbakar. yg lawak (bodoh) nya, keta terbakar kat lane seberang, lane kitorang yg jem. sengal betul lah. xreti2 nk jalan ke? nk menyibuk sgt tgk sampai terbrenti-brenti bkn nya nk buleh tolong pun. bomba baru dok nenong-nenong on the way xsampai2 lagi. ni la jem bodoh namanya.

aku pun sibuk amik gambar, adakah keta aku pun me'nyelow' utk tgk persembahan keta terbakar itu? oh tidak... sbb bukan aku yg bwk keta, kalo aku bwk pun slow sbb aku yg slow hahaha

lps je keta terbakar tu jalan se clear-clear alam. hiiii...

pls la, if ur a paramedic ke, bomba ke, polis ke, nk berenti2 tepi jalan i dont mind. but if ur not, juz mind ur own business n move along, juz wait for it to come out in the news lah, ok?

heels or no heels

was heading to work this morning when i listened to fly fm about any fashion trend that should be chucked away. nadia and phabes were spot on about 7 inch stilettos. i've yet to see anyone wearing them in real life, but the thought of having (OMG) 7 inch heels on your feet is enough to make me feel the pain already. u juz might even hear the balls and heels of your feet screaming for mercy. not to mention incident of twisted toes, and in one case i read, the girl, having to wear stilettos for how many days without giving her feet some rest made her toes so numb (from lack of blood circulation) she didnt realise one of her toes turned gangrenous!

i mean, look at these!! we can even see all the spidery veins popping out. this is gwyneth paltrow's feet btw, pictures are from the dailymail uk

granted la, the lace giuseppe zanotti heels (these are gwyn's feet too) tersgt lah lawanye.. but still, why kill ur toes for that?

betul la org ckp, sakit nak cantik nih. tp does it look pretty? for me, it juz looks painful.

p/s: the 'how to walk in high heels' book author camilla morton says the best stilettos are 10.5cm high, thats about 41/2inch only! and if u add a bit of platform at the front, say an inch, it'd b like u'll be walking in 3 inch heel. x de la mengerikan sgt.

p/ss: i wonder if the nana may's hand scrub that i hoped to get from “My Women Stuff Christmas Giveaway” can be used for the heels (of my feet)? such heaven if it can! :D

yoga oh yoga

aduh hai... apsal la org dok gaduh2 pasal yoga nih... nmpk sgt ketidaksepaduan antara org2 yg kena tentukan mende nih. yg nk implement terus lah, nk against terus lah. yg x p tanya sultan dulu lah. mcm2.

bagi aku la kan, pttnya org yg nk menentang mende tuh, kalo org nya islam, jgn la bagi statement yg negatif2 nih. perkataan2 mcm 'very disappointed' tu sgt la x sesuai. maybe not intentionally, tp it sounds as if ur against org yg lebih arif tentang hukum hakam nih. nk kritik, bagi la pandangan membina sikit. ni nk kondem je, apa nk jadi? mcm mufti perlis, he suggested that majlis fatwa bagi alternative skali kalo nk ban yoga totally. ha, bagus la jugak cmtu, at least ada cadangan. ni yg persatuan2 kata xpatut langsung la, hape la, mcm la xde yoga tu xleh buat mende lain. ko nk tonggang tonggek, pilates pun ada. ha, tukar je la.

aku suka buat yoga, sebenarnya. walaupun xpenah lepas tahap beginner. walaupun hanya untuk regangan semata. tp dah lama tinggal. dah berbulan2 dah pun. kalo dia kata 'BAN!' aku blh start anew dgn pilates tanpa rasa bersalah.

tunggu verdict je. kalo ban nya secara total, maka koleksi cd yoga aku akan di let go lah nmpak gayanya. :)

Consumer cut in spending the most since 1980

WASHINGTON – Scared and out of money, Americans stopped buying everything from cars to corn flakes in the July-September quarter, ratcheting back spending by the largest amount in 28 years and jolting the national economy into what could be the most painful recession in decades.

With retailers bracing for a grim holiday buying season, the economy isn't just slowing; it's actually shrinking, the government confirmed Thursday. It reported that the nation's gross domestic product declined at an annual rate of 0.3 percent in the year's third quarter and consumers' disposable income took its biggest drop on record.

In simpler words, "The train went off the tracks," said Brian Bethune, economist at IHS global Insight.

Wall Street took comfort in the fact that it wasn't even worse. The Dow Jones industrials rose 190 points.

But economists say tougher times are still ahead. Believing consumers are cutting back even more right now, they predict a much larger economic decline — anywhere from a 1 to 2 percent rate — during the current October-December period. That would meet a classic definition of a recession — two straight quarters of shrinking GDP.

ada ka patut?

on a different note today. dunno if u guys ada baca or its in the news, but my FIL told us later in the evening after nikah day (saturday), that a baby was found in the folds of a prayer mat in the masjid terapung (the one where the nikah was held), dead. it was juz hours before the akad ceremony when they found the body. i dunno the details but it appeared that the baby's tali pusat was not clamped, which if it was, may save the baby's life.

we were appalled that somebody blh buat something like that. obviously it was a muslim doing it lah kan, dah campak dlm masjid. i mean, ko nak baby ko tu selamat ke x? rasa mcm blh selamat kalo dok kat masjid, tp yg p bungkus dgn sejadah tu apsal? x ke lemas budak tu? ke ko mmg benak, xtau org mmg susah bernafas kalo terbungkus cmtu? kok ye pun xnak budak tu, jgn la bunuh... ramai org lagi sanggup beratur nak jaga anak ko. like, some ppl sampai bergolok gadai nak cari duit nak usaha dapat anak, those procedures can reach smpai puluh2 ribu. ko Allah bagi senang dpt anak, main buang cmtu je. binatang pun tau sayang anak tau!

tu la... lain kali, dah pandai buat anak, dah dapat anak tu jaga la. ni dok seronok nak 'main' je, dah dapat anak campak2. berani main, berani la tanggung!

i'm not siding anybody here, i personally thought both sides (the dacing n the alternatives) have gotten rotten in their heads to get as much power as they can, but honestly, do u think the de facto whatever he call himself person is stupid enough to get himself into the same mess he was in 10 yrs ago (assuming that he commited the crime) juz when he was about to create the biggest mess in the country by setting a new proposed government? i mean, come on..

tp, yg p take refuge at the turkish embassy tuh nape... n pasal conspiracy tu pun satu, xkan la the government nak pull the same trick twice... x ke klakar (bodoh) tu namanye..

the case dragged on n on n on n xde solution pun... they even get the tpm's wife involved, coz supposedly the explosives they used should be only authorized by him n she's alleged to be present at the scene when the victim was blown to smithereens.. pelik huh... dunno what else is possible now..

on tinting ur cars these days...

ni, cerita plg baru i caught in fly fm this morning.. the truth is i have nothing against tinting cars, sbb my hubby tint his car to keep the car cool, to keep the sunrays away, yadayadayada.. heck, even my car is tinted.. but i'm not so sure about tinting it so black u cannot see the inside at all...

sure, some ppl say its good that the transport minister says tinting shouldn't be juz for the VIPs, it's all about privacy (the guys are joking about quick romps in the car n whatnot)
but (i'm thinking worst case scenario here) if ur kidnapped or taken on a joyride or (raped) in ur heavily tinted car that ppl outside can't see u, that won't be very good innit.. one of the highlights in the nursuhaily case (raped by a bus driver in a bus) was the bus was heavily tinted..

OMG... i dunno what else to say when i heard this in the news... the price of paper is going up-up to 40 freaking percent!!!

i know everything's going up these days, but for paper industry to drop that bombshell is quite a shocker.. i think that's quite shocking considering the fact that ppl are more focused on the price of oil, and the toll, and food, and transportation, and tuition n nursery fees for children, and house rent, and maid.. what else aren't we worried about these days?

now u'll have to pay more for newspaper.. (note: to read only online then can cutdown newspaper cost)

for novels and magazines.. (if its really 40% then u'll have to pay 50bucks for a book that normally cost u 35.. super YIKES!)

for ur children's textbooks and workbooks and photocopied exercises..

for all ur photocopied notes (note to self: pls... no more printing feedbacks, juz keep them in d dem pc)

for all items that has labels (well the manufacturer will definitely blame raw materials prices)

oh wait, i think even banks will charge more than 50cents that they charge when u print out statements from their ATM..

what's really bugging me is, how are we going to cultivate good reading habits in our future generations without deteriorating their eye vision from staring at the pc too much as a result from rising prices of PAPER?

i'm warm n fuzzy (headed) n feeling very whiny today so pls bear with me..

one very important thing that i forgot to mention on the previous post was how my bus fare fared.. ya la.. with the 2.70 thingy... camne la blh lupa, padahal time tuh maaaarraaahhhnyeeeee..

it cost me RM40 for a seat to sungai petani... thats 25% increase ok!!! (price before =RM32) but since i needed the ticket badly so i thought, whatever, juz give me d dem ticket!

when i boarded the bus i asked my cik abg to call the lpkp regarding this matter (but only after i board n safely jalan ok, so that i wont be stranded when diorg kene tahan (how i wish!))

i got home, then only i know that some of these stupid bus companies have sold ticket at same price (initially at the counter), then when the passengers board n d bus is halfway through the journey, they stop d bus AND ASK FOR ANOTHER 10 BUCKS FOR EACH PASSENGER N IF U DONT PAY, U HAVE TO GET OUT FROM THE BUS! keji... mmg keji....

i heard about bus fare probs in the news tp xperasan plk smpai camtu... mmg those bus company owners rot in **** la... xberkat duit yg ko amik tu bagi makan anak bini...

how i wish its like it was back in ssp.. when the busfare was $20 (je??!!! 50% off tau) from kl to sg. petani n flight ticket dont even cost 100 bucks.. heaven nya...

seriously, did u? well, i.... didnt. its not like i didnt give a **** bout whats happening, its juz that i personally think that politics are where the most manipulative b******s who do some n keep some for their own sake, n also fight for their own sake. so for my own peace of mind, n avoiding from lashing out my frustrations regarding this matter n end up being all emo about it, i zipped my mouth shut (but still, some of whats inside my mind trickled out once in a while)..

i thought the same can be applied this time round when the election day came, but that didnt work.. my FIL was in the field b4 he retired after trganu was taken over by the full moon, so naturally when the day came, my PIL's house was buzzing with all news coming in, gossips n whatnots.. like 'haa? penang is out?' b4 the result came out on tv..

after all the results were tallied, all the questions came flooding in:

*will the malays have a pillar to lean back on after this?
*will the oil price be reduced, or not?
*will the education expenses be reduced, or increased?
*will the medical expenses not be subsidised anymore?
*will the funds for meds in selangor restricted, since its not what it was b4?
*will the tol rates go down after this, or not?
*will the riot continue?
*was the opposition getting stronger, or the government getting weaker?

whichever parties won, i sincerely wish that they think for the best of all malaysians, n keep the peace throughout the nation.. pls dont keep people's money in ur own pockets n go holidays with it.. n pls dont keep arguing about petty stuff that can snowball into something so huge u cant handle it among parties...

n for my own peace of mind, i'll make sure that i register myself b4 the next election...

amidst all that, what i remembered most was an incident with a 7 yr old:
at the house...

boy: aunty, can i have ur phone number pls?
BIL: eh, she's not available u know...

in the car...

boy: aunty, ni gambar sape kawen?
me: mine la...
boy: ur married already???!!! to whom???
BIL: laa.. uncle hariz la (who's driving)
boy: omg....(his face was soo bewildered)
MIL: yop xde can la... dah terlepas...

well, that should boost one's confidence.. flattery comes in all shapes n sizes... (winkwink..)
